Eight Ways We Show Our Customers Love
In this new year, just after Valentine’s Day, we want to share all the “quiet needs” we fulfill for our customers on a daily basis. Let us count eight ways we love our customers…
We support you by offering:
- 30-Day Trials: We don’t have salespeople that visit your office. Instead, if you see something in the catalog or on the website that you like, just call us, and we’ll ship it to you for a 30-day trial, risk-free (we pay shipping). You get to demo it yourself and with your patients, then decide if it’s right for you and your practice. And there’s no pressure. You’ve got a month!
- Private Labeling: No matter the size of your practice, we offer a solution to help you brand products. This gives you a unique marketing opportunity to stand out—with low minimum order requirements.
- Repairs / Cleaning / Custom Mounting: If an item is out of warranty, we still provide repair, cleaning, and mounting services. Instead of replacing a telescope, it can be sent in for repairs and cleaning. Magnabrite domes can be repolished, and the handles of all our SMARTMag® magnifiers are all replaceable. There are ways an older product that shows wear and tear can be made usable again at a fraction of the cost of the new one. This is what we call pocketbook love—we are saving everybody money!
- Limited Lifetime Warranty on SMARTMag® Magnifiers and Walters® Telescopes: Our warranty is industry leading; it’s an industry first on telescopes. We also make the warranty process easy. For example, if we determine that a magnifier handle is defective via phone call, we can send a handle to you for replacement, saving your patients time without their magnifier.
- Drop Shipping: If you don’t want to store inventory, you can ship products directly to your patients for no additional charge. Drop shipping to a patient can save your office staff time. We love that!
- Standardized Shipping into Purchase Tiers: The tiers are published online here. We’ve made this easier than ever so you know what you’re paying for shipping upfront. This saves you time since you don’t have to request a quote.
- Discounts on Demo Equipment: With demo discounts, we help people who are starting a new practice, or adding products into their existing practice. We provide discounts for new product placement to share the burden of the upfront costs with you.

Team Member Spotlight: Elena
Elena King has been working with the Mattingly family since 1993. She’s been with Mattingly Low Vision since 2010. As a Certified Low Vision Therapist, she answers questions people have about what devices work best for which tasks, how to use them, which magnification is needed, and which combinations work best. She’s also an optician, which enables her to help with the manufacturer and quality assurance that we provide.
Elena also provides customer care and training, where she advises doctors who may just be starting out with low vision services and want to know what to get for their startup equipment. She assists with the ideal setup for their particular situation, pricing, and strategy. She is the go-to person for all of our customers’ questions!
In Elena’s words, “The whole reason I am involved as a low vision therapist is because it makes such a difference in people’s lives. When someone loses their vision, and they’re new to being visually impaired, it can almost feel like they are dying or have a terminal illness. Being able to give them back some of their independence again feels almost as good as saving a life. It’s so meaningful.”
Outside of work, Elena enjoys listening to audiobooks (her daughter’s got her into classics right now), hiking, taking nature walks, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She values God, family, and faith above all.
Fun fact: When she was nineteen, Elena traveled to Romania on a short-term medical mission trip while she was studying to be an optician, and she loved the people there. Everyone thought she was Romanian and that her translator, who was actually Romanian, was the visitor!

Scholarship Program
To encourage emerging professionals in the field with a passion for low vision, as well as to honor our founder Bill Mattingly's memory, Mattingly Low Vision provides a $2500 and $1000 scholarship annually to either a low vision resident or an optometry student with a demonstrated interest in the field.
